Write to the US Senate about the Orphan Works Act now!

The bill may still be amended while under debate of the full Senate. Write to your senators and urge them to amend the bill, and ask them to vote against the bill if it is NOT amended…

The following link will take you to the Graphic Artist’s Guild Advocacy page where they have done most of the work for you:

Orphan Works Act of 2008

Hysteria is quickly escalating amongst creative circles in the bay area and beyond. Friends are sending desperate pleas to write their congressmen/senators and to boycott all the major corporations that are funding this bill; mainly Microsoft, Google, Corbis and Ghetty.

We, the creative community, must unite and take action to ensure that our copyright protection is maintained within acceptable standards. My goal is to amass as much reliable information as possible with which to base an effective plan of action.

A plethora of information (including links to the actual drafts of the two versions of the bill) can be found at the Graphic Artists Guild online, http://gag.org/

Let’s organize and stick it to the man!

PHP / CSS Updates & NEW BLOG

I spent last weekend converting Miles Arts website pages from .html to .php. This allows the use of dynamic page rendering through include functions. I’ve also been optimizing/enhancing the semantic integrity of my pages by simplifying the sites HTML and CSS coding. Miles Arts blog is now officially live to the public.

So, what’s up?

Not much. I’ve been slowly plugging away at my personal site. Primarily, I’m mulling over how to create the navigation and overall organization. I feel at liberty to do whatever I want this time; ignoring standards, conventions and tested theories unless they fit in with my artistic vision. All the possibilities are a bit overwhelming…

Future Plans – Miles Arts Website

Miles Arts will be divided into at least three or more different websites. My plan (all along) has been to create multiple websites, each one specializing in a specific subject. For example, milesarts.com will be strictly business related, while milesofnature.org will be for my personal photo albums etc. and hedroncluster.com will be the official website for the band, Hedron.
